Strategies and Assistive Technologies for Learning Disabilities
Program Information
| The Strategies and Assistive Technologies for Learning Disabilities Durham College Certificate program provides students with a theoretical understanding of learning disabilities, a range of strategies relevant to specific learning disabilities and the ability to select and use appropriate technological interventions to support a learner of any age.
Employment opportunities are available in elementary, secondary and post-secondary academic settings to support students with learning disabilities. Due to the advanced nature of the courses in this program, students with previous (or current) experience working in an educational setting will have greater success in the program. This new program is comprised of two Recognition of Achievement (ROA) programs that stack to a Durham College Certificate. The first ROA, Fundamental Principles of Learning Disabilities, will provide students with a theoretical understanding of learning disabilities, concurrent disorders, and the legal obligations of educators. In the second ROA, Applied Learning Disability Strategies for Educators, the student will apply appropriate strategies and assistive technologies to a range of learner needs. Due to the advanced nature of the courses in this program, students with previous (or current) experience working in an educational setting will have greater success in the program. |
Credentials College-Approved Certificate
Residency Students must complete a minimum number of credits in this program with their registering college to meet the Program Residency requirement to graduate from the program.
Completion All courses must be completed within 5 years of acceptance into the program.
