Program Information
| Advance your nursing career in one of Canada’s fastest-growing specialty areas. As the number of Canadians living with or at risk for chronic kidney disease (CKD) continues to rise, the demand for skilled nephrology nurses has never been greater. Durham College’s Nephrology Nursing Certificate equips Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) with the knowledge required to promote and deliver competent, safe and ethical care to those at risk for developing or affected by renal disease and/or insufficiency. This program has been designed in alignment with the nephrology nursing competencies of the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) and the standards of practice established by the Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technologists (CANNT) to prepare nurses to support patients from early detection and disease prevention through dialysis, transplantation, and palliative care. Whether you are looking to expand your clinical expertise, pursue new career opportunities, or make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients living with kidney disease, this program provides the training needed to work in field of nephrology nursing. |
Credentials College-Approved Certificate
Residency Students must complete a minimum number of credits in this program with their registering college to meet the Program Residency requirement to graduate from the program.
Completion All courses must be completed within 5 years of acceptance into the program.
