Applied Learning Disability Strategies for Educators (Recognition of Achievement)

Program Information

The Applied Learning Disability Strategies for Educators Recognition of Achievement program provides students the opportunity to develop competencies in the areas of learning strategies and assistive technology. Students will be able to recommend strategies and assistive technologies that are appropriate for individuals with learning disabilities.

Students who complete this new Recognition of Achievement (ROA) program in addition to the new Fundamental Principles of Learning Disabilities ROA program may obtain the Strategies and Assistive Technologies for Learning Disabilities Durham College Certificate. The first ROA, Fundamental Principles of Learning Disabilities, will provide students with a theoretical understanding of learning disabilities, concurrent disorders, and the legal obligations of educators. In the second ROA, Applied Learning Disability Strategies for Educators, the student will apply appropriate strategies and assistive technologies to a range of learner needs.

Due to the advanced nature of the courses in this program, students with previous (or current) experience working in an educational setting will have greater success in the program.
