Intro to Learning Disabilities
Course Information
In this course, students will learn about the history and current definition of, ‘learning disability’ and explore the many types and facets of learning disabilities, and their impact on social, emotional, and academic life. Students will have the opportunity to expand their current understandings of assessments and how psycho-educational reports are used to create learning plans for academic settings. Students will reflect on the narrative accounts of students and adults living with learning disabilities, and will use these stories of experience to reflect upon and challenge personal views. Legal foundations and professional standards as they pertain to learning disabilities will also be explored.

Computer Software Requirements:
Students will need access to a PC running Windows 7 or later or a Mac running OS X High Sierra and Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office is a free download available to all Ontario students. Students will also require access to the internet in order to acess courses and download and try a variety of applications. Access to a mobile device (phone or tablet running either Android or iOS) is an benefit in order to broaden their exposure to a variety platforms.
