Business of Sports Collectibles
Course Information
This course is an introduction to the business of sports collectibles trading cards, licensed products and memorabilia. Students will examine material on the history or trading cards; the key manufacturers, brands and major players in the industry; demographic differences between markets; licensing, intellectual property and royalties; professional grading; basics on how to grade; the role of eCommerce in the industry; the role of auction houses and historical sales; a source of alternative investing; 2020 and COVID-19s impact on the industry; fractional investing; cultural impact; the future of sports collectibles blockchain, digital cards and NFTs; and finally, how to get in the industry.
